Creative Engineering (ages 9-11)
with TROY REED
Rubber band cars, bridges and towers from everyday materials—get ready to tinker! Put your curiosity, problem solving and math skills to work as you create items you can really use. $8 supply fee payable to instructor at the first class. (20 max)
TROY REED has worked for afterschool and summer enrichment programs for nine years, including Kids Kollege and the 21st Century grant.
Geology Rocks! (ages 12-15)
with SERENA GREENWOOD
Love rocks? Of course you do! Explore the mysteries of rocks, gems, and minerals as well as the fun side of rocks as you simulate volcanos, grow crystals and learn how to identify minerals. We’ll take a field trip across campus to the School of Energy one day during class. $5 supply fee payable to instructor at the first class. (12 max)

Indoor Rock Climbing (ages 9-11)
with CLIMBING WALL STAFF
Achieve new heights on the 6,000 square foot wall at San Juan College’s Health and Human Performance Center. Climbing offers a new perspective as you explore routes specifically designed for kids and learn how to boulder (bouldering is a style of rock climbing that is done close to the ground without ropes or harnesses and focuses on technique and control). Build confidence as you learn safety, basic knots and team building skills with activities and games. Wear comfortable clothing and athletic/tennis shoes. Cost includes all necessary equipment, and class cost covers staffing to ensure a 1:6 staff-to student ratio for safety purposes. (12max)

Magic Potions (ages 4-5)

Lava lamps, secret messages, magic clouds, crystals and exploding baggies—discover a world of magical chemical reactions. Engage in exciting experiments that incorporate predicting, problem solving, and drawing. $7 supply fee payable to instructor at the first class. (14 max)

Simple tasty Navajo treats! Add a bit of a twist to our ‘rez’ervation foods with blue mush cookies, blue corn popsicles, and so much more! Your learning will include some Navajo vocabulary and some Navajo teachings. $20 supply fee payable to instructor at the first class. (20 max)

Safe Sitter® (ages 11-14)
with JULIE HOYT
The Safe Sitter® curriculum is designed exclusively for young teens in grades 6-8 (students must be 11), and covers the following areas: safety skills, child care skills, first aid and rescue skills, and life and business skills. Safe Sitter® courses are instructor-led and interactive, with hands-on demonstrations and skills practice using soft-bodied dolls and medical manikins. Class fee includes The Official Safe Sitter® Babysitter’s Handbook and completion card. Parents, plan to attend the last 15 minutes for graduation and important information to keep your student safe. Bring a sack lunch, and students will have a half-hour supervised lunch. 7 hrs

Crazy for chemistry? Enjoy a fun filled week that guarantees messy scientific fun. Learn how everyday products we use are chemical reactions and why we use them! Explore the chemical reactions in our lives, create your own, and leave wanting more!

Disc Golf (ages 9-11)
with DEVON LAPAHIE
Combine the challenge of golf with the fun of frisbees, and you have Disc Golf! Disc golf is played much like ball golf but with discs that come in different molds that make a putter, mid-range, fairway driver, and distance drivers. Play begins with throwing from a tee box and completion into a basket. The number of throws it takes to complete the hole is the score for that hole. Learn the fundamentals of throwing discs and gain an understanding of how disc golf is played with rules provided from the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA). All equipment provided, but bring your own discs if you have them; bring water, a hat and sunscreen. (14 max)
